Dat Phuong Nam (Southern Land) Gastronomic Festival 2017 is introduced from May 24 to May 28 at Dam Sen Cultural Park in HCMC

The festival represents an effort to promote cuisine of many regions, ranging from Thua Thien Hue Province to the south and the Central Highlands.
There are more than 70 booths of 40 units serving more than 250 dishes and drinks at the event. Guests can enjoy 100 sweet soups and cakes from the south and dishes representing three culinary styles including Saigon, Central Highlands, southwest and southeast regions. Some of notable dishes were grilled shellfish with pepper, roasted small crab with tamarind, fried rice with pineapple and shrimps, steamed chicken with grapefruit leaves, Don Village style grill chicken, Tra Vinh style noodle soup, to name just a few.
A highlight of festival is Saigon xua va nay (Saigon then and now) street food event including two main themes “Back to Childhood” and “Modern Integration”. The “Back to Childhood” them allows guests to taste dishes associated with their childhood such as sweet soup, banh trang nuong (grilled rice paper), cotton candy, etc. Meanwhile, with the theme “Modern Integration”, guests may enjoy special street food of Japan, Korea and Thailand such as Korea-style rice cake, Japan’s grilled octopus cake, Thai-style milk tea.
Furthermore, Dam Sen Park’s culinary contests offer delicious dishes in the south, luring a lot of contestants around the country.
The organizer also hosts several interesting activities like performances of ethnic musical instruments and don ca tai tu (southern folk songs), folk games and recreating traditional craft villages.
Tickets are VND250,000 per person. Those who buy festival tickets will be entitled to a discount of 50% on package ticket prices and receive a free entry ticket.
